Wang Xuehui, chairman of Shanxi Artists Association, gave a lecturetalking about what he got from his travel in the south of Anhui Provincevia Tencent Meeting. The lecture is emceed by professor Liu Dongxia, the vice dean of College of Art.Students and teachers from different universities and majors in Shanxi, totally over 200 people, attended this lectureonline.
Combiningwith his sketch works and research that he had done during his trip to southernAnhui Provinceandtakingsketching as the theme,Chairman Wang Xuehui Chinese , illustrated hisopinionson the problems that should be paid attention to, art authenticity, means of sketching, and some other aspects to the audiences. With a great number of his works, he expatiated on emotion, composition, trade-off, blank, and the relationship between line and ink rhyme that painters should focus on, and clearly explained every step from preparation before painting to using brush pen and ink to paint, which provided students with effective ways of conceiving and creating their own works. Besides, he emphasized that authenticity of art is not equal to the reality. Art should be at the higher level.There ought to be a standard on good sketching methods. Good sketching methods not only suit a standard, but also are appropriate to painters. Those venerable painters have sum up the experience of the life and works, and they led students deeply into the essence of painting.Finally, Chairman Wang concluded the significance of sketching. Sketchingwas to understand more about nature, to accumulate material and to train painting ability. It should be souled, emotional andanimate.Therefore, painters should get involved into it.
The lecture was detailed in practice and theories, and it made a deep discussion on the connotation of Chinese painting.
